NFL Pro Bowler and New York Giants star edge rusher Brian Burns is continuing his powerful off-the-field impact by bringing his Route 53 Dawg Rescue Foundation to New York. After years of dedicated work in Charlotte during his time with the Carolina Panthers, Burns remains committed to being a voice for abused and neglected dogs, giving them a second chance at life.

The Route 53 Dawg Rescue Foundation, named after Burns' jersey number when he entered the NFL in 2019 and his love for dogs, was born out of his family's passion for animal welfare. Since its inception, the foundation has been dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and mistreated dogs-while also educating the public about responsible pet ownership and advocating for humane treatment of animals.

"Just because I changed teams doesn't mean the mission changes," said Burns. "New York may be my new home on the field, but my heart for rescue dogs stays the same. I'm committed to being their voice and giving them a chance to feel love, safety, and belonging."

With the expansion of Route 53 Dawg Rescue to the New York metro area, the foundation will partner with local shelters, veterinary clinics, and volunteers to identify dogs in critical need. The initiative will focus on high-risk cases involving abuse, neglect, and abandonment, particularly in underserved communities.

Burns' visibility as a star athlete brings national attention to the plight of neglected animals. Through fundraising events, awareness campaigns, adoption drives, and youth education, Route 53 Dawg Rescue will deepen its impact in the Northeast, just as it did in the South.
